EASY SPICE RACK FOR $1

If you look at my pantry you'd probably notice two things- that I need to grocery shop more and that I love organization.

When we rebuilt our home I planned on having a built-in spice rack, but somehow that slipped my mind and look... four years have passed.

Today, I got tired of digging for my most-used spices and picked up a three pack of plastic trays from DOLLAR TREE! THEY WERE SERIOUSLY 3 FOR  $1!

A couple of nails later----- I have a quick and easy spice rack! I've only hung two, but I'm loving it!

$1 BATHROOM UPDATE!

Four years ago when we rebuilt our house our contractor discouraged us from buying these oil rubbed bronze faucets from EBay.

He said they looked nice, but they were cheap and they wouldn't last.

We were buying them out of pocket and I was sold on the $30 price tag.

I explained to him that I am always changing things in my house and if they didn't last that is perfectly okay.

Well.... he was right.

They have started tarnishing and the color has actually came off.

But, luckily, I was cleaning out my craft closet and came across a bottle of metallic paint that I bought a while back at Wal-Mart for $1!

It wasn't my first choice but I knew that if I didn't like it I could just go and buy a different color.

I grabbed one of the kids' paint brushes and went to town and about 2 minutes later:

I love the look the brush strokes give it! It looks like a REAL antique faucet and bonus points because we have already had company over that asked if I could please share where I ordered our awesome antique faucet from, HA!

Of course we will still eventually replace this faucet, however, in the mean time this gives us a nicer looking faucet for next to nothing!

A little update in a tiny space goes a long way!

Kitchen Updates...

Lastnight we tackled a large remodel.

We installed knobs and handles on all of our kitchen cabinets.

It took  almost 3 hours and 3 trips to Lowe's because someone in the Long family, I wont mention her name,  apparently cant count.

I have been looking at these particular pulls for quite sometime. Everywhere I looked they were nearly $5 each and I just wasn't paying that.

Luckily I found the gold colored ones for $1.35 each and I just spray painted them black.

I also found the knobs for .97 ea.

I  installed black shutters on the window above my kitchen sink.

We plan to do alot more to our kitchen... like installing molding above all the cabinets.. sort of like this...

And we also plan to do a bead board back splash and butcher block counter tops.

Mason Jar Pendant Light

Its clear that whoever built our house had high-quality and design in mind when they picked out and installed this little beauty, however, its just not my style.

I know, shocking! :)

I have been wanting to change it ever since we moved in.  I wanted something unique and a little country.
I stumbled across a  Mason Jar Pendant light online and fell in LOVE!

I found one at Barn Light Electric for only $149.00.

BUT if you know me, you know I would never pay that... AND I figured I could probably make it for a lot cheaper and I did!

I bought a mini pendant light kit at Lowe's ($17.00) and a friend at work gave me a Mason Jar. I painted the gold mason jar lid black to match the light kit and I LOVE IT!!

Thanks Dad for hanging it for me! :)

Our Guest Room

I debated on posting pictures, but then I realized this is probably the only time you will see it this organized so I might as well.

When we added on to our home this was the first room I decorated.  I knew I wanted to do a 'beach' themed room and it was SO easy to find stuff to coordinate with this theme.

If you look past the barbie jeep, 4 wheeler and storage tubs I think this room turned out pretty cute.

This room was decorated on a VERY small budget. Most everything was from a garage sale or dollar tree.

For instance, I made a super cheap headboard out of rattan rugs I bought at dollar tree.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with this room!

Its re-decorating time! The girls bathroom!

Ok, so I got a wild hair again!!lol... Poor Josh, hes painted like every room in this house at least 2x! Hes a trooper, Ill tell ya that!Hes swore this is the last time hes painting for a while... yea, we'll see!:) I ♥ you boo-bear!

Anyway.. I decide to redo the girls bathroom. Its actually my guest bathroom but its right between the girls rooms SO I thought why not decorate it for them! It turned out soo cute! We still have touch ups to do, but I just had to take some pictures!!

I found the shower curtain at Target and we used the leftover paint from Rilyns room. The letters that say 'bath' I bought at hobby lobby and covered them in a gift bag (it matches the shower curtain PERFECT) And some paper and ribbon from hobby lobby... I painted the vanity a chocolaty brown and then used the left over paint and I painted the vine on the wall to match the shower curtain...

I painted a old vase lime green and I painted a cross i bought at a garage sale blue... oh and my favorite! THE picture frame! I painted and glued everything on it thanks to my junk craft drawer!lol... all that it needs is a picture of the girls now!!

MORE pictures of Rilyn's room....

Dont worry these are the LAST ones...lol...

The 3 shelves to the left I bought at the .99 cent store! ...Painted those black and they came with a little white picture frame... I painted zebra stripes on those with a paint pen. The framed R... It was a gold mirror... I painted it black and cut up and hot glued a glittery-zebra gift bag to the mirror that I also bought at the .99 cent store then simply painted a store bought R pink and hot glued it to the center! Cute! I love shopping at .99 cent stores... you never know what you'll find.

Her dresser

Cute sign we found at Ross that matches perfect!

The most adorable lamp you've ever seen! I bought this lamp at a garage sale for $5. It was silver... I painted it black and wrapped the shade in feathers I bought for $2! Super cute!

Sneak peak #2 of Rilyns new BIG girl room...

No it is still not finished ... but its looking very cute!! Check these pictures of Rilyns BIG girl room!!

Rilyn's door...

Her bed....

Her canopy... you can hardly see it in the picture but theres a sequins 'R' on it...

Another picture of the bed

Her book shelves and that adorable pink chair!

Curtains my mom made... I found an adorable sheet set that is kind of the ' ED HARDY' type... its really cute.. Yes, I realize thats a little over her head.. but I figure she can grow into this room. Anyway- we made curtains and pillows out of that sheet set.. it was cheaper than just buying fabric. The sheet set was only $7!! And the cute fabric runs about $4 a yard...

Some cute pink pictures frames that have rhinestones on them... they match perfect! And I found them at the DOLLAR STORE!!

My guitar from high school... I never learned to play it so its just been setting in the closet..lol. And since some of the fabric we used has guitars on it... I thought it would go perfect in her room.. I painted the zebra stripes on it and added the glitter stars! Too cute!

Some picture frames I picked up again at the dollar store... all i did was recover the matte with the lefter over zebra paper I had.

And the same with this one

up close of the bedding... I didnt know at the time that the sheet set had skulls on it... however I dont really mind it... it kind of goes with the rock star theme...lol

a cute zebra stool

Her name....

The bed

I found these adorable letters at hobby lobby... and thought it'd be a cute idea to do the ABC's on one wall above her chair rail since this is a toddlers room. They go perfect!
